A new legal battle is erupting in the reality-TV world, and this time, the spotlight is on “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” cast member Demi Engemann — who is being accused of weaponizing a deeply serious allegation for attention and storyline value.
“Vanderpump Villa” personality Marciano Brunette has officially filed a defamation lawsuit against Demi, asserting that she deliberately twisted a consensual moment between them into a sensationalized allegation of sexual misconduct. According to Marciano, her shifting narrative has caused him “severe professional and personal damage,” and he’s asking the court to put a stop to what he calls a reckless campaign of falsehoods.
### A Kiss in Italy — and a Story That Marciano Says Changed Over Time
In the legal documents obtained by TMZ, Marciano claims Demi publicly labeled him a “sexual predator” and accused him of sexual assault despite, he says, their off-camera kiss in Italy being “entirely consensual.”
The two reality shows were filming in Italy in August 2024 when the interaction occurred. Marciano argues that Demi’s account has “shifted dramatically,” evolving from a consensual encounter into an accusation of misconduct, and later, into a full-blown allegation of assault. He claims this progression conveniently aligned with Demi’s desire for a dramatic storyline.
According to the lawsuit, “Demi reframed an obviously consensual interaction as misconduct, and then escalated it further, all for narrative impact.”
### Alleged Messages Suggest a Different Story
To reinforce his argument, Marciano included what he says are messages sent by Demi after the Italy trip — texts, calls, FaceTimes, and even location-sharing. He says Demi continued to reach out to him for months, invited him to visit her in Utah and California, and maintained friendly communication entirely inconsistent with someone who felt unsafe or violated.
Marciano’s lawyers argue that this pattern “demonstrates an ongoing relationship, not the behavior of someone responding to an assault.”
### Lawsuit Also Targets ‘Mormon Wives’ Producer
Marciano isn’t just suing Demi — he’s also pursuing legal action against producer Jeff Jenkins, accusing the show of intentionally airing the allegations in a sensationalized way while cutting out Marciano’s responses.
He says producers had “obvious reasons to doubt Engemann’s account,” including timeline issues and contradictory facts, yet still amplified the accusations “for profit.”
### Career Fallout and Public Backlash
Marciano alleges that Demi’s claims have led to significant professional losses, online harassment, and long-term damage to his reputation. He seeks monetary damages as well as a court-ordered injunction preventing Demi and the production team from repeating statements that are found to be defamatory.
So far, neither Demi nor Jeff has responded to requests for comment.
