Horrifying Secrets Behind the Spotlight: Mayci Neely’s Haunting Confession

The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives star Mayci Neely has revealed she felt like she was ‘in prison’ after being sexually assaulted by her abusive ex-boyfriend.

The reality star, 30, rose to fame as one of the stars of the Hulu show, which debuted in 2024 and has already been renewed for a fourth season.

Mayci has now opened up about her horrific ordeal in her new memoir, Told You So, where she also detailed the tragedy of losing the father of her first child in a car accident when she was 13 weeks pregnant.

And in a new interview, the mother-of-three shared that after the vile assault she had to ‘convince herself’ she ‘still loved’ her former partner, who she refers to as ‘Dick’, in a bid to make it feel ‘less awful.’

In the book, Mayci revealed she met her ex-partner, who she refers to as ‘Dick’ while in California during her time at Brigham Young University.

She shared that almost immediately the relationship was an abusive one, and he would coerce her into performing sex acts, smoking cannabis and drinking.

Mayci then shared insight into the vile abuse she endured, revealing her ex would chase her with scissors and slice her thigh with a razor blade, before recalling the horrific night he assaulted her.

Sharing that she still cannot speak about the night to her husband or therapist, Mayce revealed Dick plied her with a drink, and she woke up to find him performing a sex act on her despite her protests.

She wrote: ‘I understand that he’s won and I’ve lost,’ adding she still told Dick she loved him, ‘because if I can convince myself… then all of this is a little less awful’.

Mayci admitted she felt unable to tell anyone about Dick’s abuse, due to fears he’d retaliate by escalating his attacks, or sharing videos of them having sex, which could have led her to lose her scholarship at BYU, which was sponsored by the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints.

She told The Times: ‘It was like I was in a prison.’

After a year, Dick finally returned to California, and Mayci moved on with boyfriend Arik, but this relationship ended in tragedy, as he was killed in a car accident just days after she discovered she was pregnant with his child.

Mayci said he was racked with guilt as she’d been texting Arik just before the crash took place adding: ‘I felt a pain I didn’t know possible. I didn’t know how to go on.

‘For about five times a day for a year, I replayed the scenario, thinking it was all my fault because he’d been texting me. It was about two years before I began to realise I didn’t know he was texting and driving.’

Following the birth of her son Hudson, who is now 10, Mayci returned to BYU, and she met her now-husband Jacob when her son was seven months old.

The couple married in 2018, and they now have two children, Harlow, now four, and Charli May, three months.

During The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives’ third season, viewers sawe Mayci and Jacob preparing to welcome their second child together.

The show has already been renewed for season four, which will consist of 20 episodes and will debut in 2026.
