Lack of desire in bed: Demi Engemann speaks openly about her sexual dry spell

Demi Engemann Breaks Her Silence: Raw Confession About Her “Sexual Dry Spell” Shocks Fans

For the first time, influencer and reality star Demi Engemann is pulling back the curtain on one of the most sensitive and often unspoken struggles inside long-term relationships: sexual droughts — including her own.

In a candid new episode of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Engemann reveals that she has battled stretches of extremely low sexual desire, describing her intimate life as “awkward, hesitant, and sometimes forced.” Speaking openly on her podcast, she admits: “I’ve had sex in a very reluctant way.”

Engemann explains that many of her close friends, even those in years-long marriages, have gone months without intimacy. “That’s why this topic isn’t taboo for me,” she says. “Sexual disinterest is more common than people think — and society needs to take it seriously.”

The influencer questions her own natural libido. “I’ve asked myself, how often do I actually want sex? Not as often as people assume,” she confesses. She says her desire peaks only around ovulation, and the rest of the month can feel like a long, pressure-filled silence.

In one of her most startling admissions, Demi reveals that there were times she had sex purely out of obligation. “Sometimes I’d crawl into bed just to make my husband happy — even when I didn’t want to. I called it ‘awkward sex.’”

She says many women feel a heavy responsibility to satisfy their partners, even at the cost of their own comfort. “You end up pushing yourself aside. And then you start to believe something is wrong with you,” she adds.

The pressure became so intense that Demi frequently made excuses to avoid intimacy — from claiming she had headaches to pretending she was on her period. Looking back, she believes honest communication would have been healthier. “It’s so much easier to say, ‘Hey, I just can’t today. I’m sorry.’”

The reality star also recently opened up about her complicated feelings around having another baby, calling childbirth “mysterious, dangerous, almost supernatural.”

Demi and her husband, Bret Engemann, officially began dating in 2020, but their history is far more tangled. In a TikTok video last year, she revealed that she first met Bret as a child through family friends — at a time when he was already married to his first wife, Angie Harrington. “We’re sixteen years apart. When I was nine, he was a married adult with a baby,” she reminded followers.

Her confessions have ignited a firestorm online — but to Demi, breaking the silence is worth it. “If women can be honest about this, we can finally stop feeling broken.”
